The solo performance is inspired by the opera Madame Butterfly, an orientalist work about an Eastern woman’s flawed desire to be Western. It starts with the female image always depicted with Japanese products and continues with the fictionalization of the space as East and West. Madam Butterfly character who was created by a sexist point of view and had been the victim of the orientalism and exoticism is given new life through the female-centric performance.
